Wedding seating, start to print

Seat everyone you love. Print it beautifully.

Paste your guest list exactly as it is. Arrange the room to scale, keep couples together and certain uncles apart, then print the sign, the cards and the caterer’s sheet — all from one list that updates when RSVPs change.

How it works

Built for the part of planning that actually hurts: the last six weeks.

RSVPs trickle in, a cousin brings a partner, two friends stop speaking, the caterer asks for meal counts by table. Tablewright is designed so every one of those changes takes seconds, not an evening of retyping.

01

Paste your list as it is

No template to squeeze into. Copy the rows from Google Sheets, Excel or your wedding website’s export and paste. We find the name, household, RSVP, meal and dietary columns on our own.

  • “John & Jane Smith” becomes two linked guests
  • “+1” becomes a placeholder seat you can name later
  • Duplicates are spotted before they’re added

02

Lay out the real room

Tell us the guest count and your venue’s tables; we lay them out to scale around the dance floor. Drag tables to match the venue map, add the bar, DJ, cake and pillars, rotate and renumber.

  • Round, banquet, square, head and sweetheart tables
  • Real sizes: a 60″ round is drawn as 152 cm
  • Drag guests onto a table or a specific chair

Rules that keep the peace

Mark who must sit together and who must not. Auto-seat fills empty chairs group by group without ever moving people you’ve placed, and live checks catch what tired eyes miss.

  • Keep-apart and sit-with rules
  • Split households and lone guests flagged
  • Declined-but-still-seated warnings

Example checks from the sample wedding

Antonio Ferreira and Arthur Pemberton should not share a table — both are at Table 4.
Tomás Ruiz is the only guest at Table 6.
Auto-seat placed 34 guests. Households kept together, no conflicts.
04

Print everything from one list

Five designed styles, real poster sizes, no watermark. Signs choose their own columns and type size so 60 or 360 names fit the board gracefully.

  • Seating chart sign — alphabetical or by table
  • Escort cards, place cards and table numbers
  • Caterer sheet with meals and allergies seat by seat
05

Change your mind safely

Every change saves on your device as you work. Undo anything, restore last Tuesday’s version, and after a late RSVP, reprint only the cards that changed.

  • Autosave, version history and backup files
  • “Reprint only what changed” for cards
  • Warns you if the sign is out of date

Seating chart templates

Five styles, filled with your names.

Most printable templates leave you retyping every name — and retyping again after each RSVP. Ours fill themselves from your plan.

Your guest list never leaves your device.

Names, relationships, allergies and the notes you’d rather nobody saw are personal. So the planner runs entirely in your browser: no account, nothing uploaded, nothing to leak.

  • No sign-up, no uploadPlans are stored in your browser’s own storage, not on our servers.
  • Hard to loseAutosave, a second local copy, 40 saved versions and downloadable backups.
  • Sharing you controlCopies and seat-finder links carry the data inside the link itself. Seat-finder links include names and tables only — never meals or notes.

Questions

Good to know

Is Tablewright really free?

Yes. The planner, every print style, the seat finder and the exports are free, with no watermark and no account. If we ever add paid extras, what is free today stays free.

Where is my guest list stored?

In your browser, on your device (IndexedDB, with a second copy in local storage). It is never uploaded to us. That is why there is no sign-up — and why you should download a backup file from time to time, or before switching devices.

Can my partner or planner work on it too?

Use Send a copy to share a link or backup file; they open their own copy. It isn’t live co-editing — whoever has the latest version sends it back. Most couples find one “keeper” of the plan works best in the final weeks anyway.

Will it handle a big wedding?

Yes. We test with 600 guests and 60+ tables: importing, auto-seating and printing all stay quick. Signs automatically choose columns and type size so long lists still fit the board.

Can I import from Zola, The Knot or a spreadsheet?

Anything you can open in a spreadsheet works. Export or copy your guest list, paste it in, and we recognise columns like name, household, RSVP, meal and dietary needs. “Mr & Mrs Smith” and “+1” rows become separate, linked guests.

What sizes can I print?

Seating chart signs at 16×20, 18×24 and 24×36 inches, A2 and A1, plus Letter and A4. Escort and place cards print on Letter or A4 with crop marks; flat escort cards line up with 10-per-sheet business-card stock. Use “Save as PDF” to send a sign to any print shop.

Does it work on my phone?

Yes — seating by tapping is built for phones: tap guests, then tap a table. The planner also keeps working offline once it has loaded, which helps at venues with poor signal.

Ready when you are.

Start with a pasted list or a sample wedding. It takes about a minute to see your room.
